Today's topic is on acceptance.
Why?
Because I am trying to find acceptance.
To find a place where I truly belong.
A place where I am judged on the same scales
people use on themselves and all others.
Proverbs 14:8-10
8The wisdom of the prudent is to discern his way,
but the folly of fools is deceiving.
9 Fools mock at the guilt offering,
but the upright enjoy acceptance.
10The heart knows its own bitterness,
and no stranger shares its joy.
I think that what the passage is saying is that a wise person will seek to plan his ways whereas a foolish man will try to lie/cheat their way through.
And when the righteous man does something wrong,he would try to rectify and salvage the situation, whereas the foolish man will scorn at any such actions, and refuse to do likewise, for fear of being mocked by others.
I interpret the last verse to be saying that only we know our own feelings,
and no one else can ever second the thoughts in our mind.
The other day in class,I made a rash decision to rank my friends above my family.
This,I rationalized within myself,is because I am an only child.
Therefore, friends within my generation can understand me better, and help me cope.
Today,I think,HOW STUPID I WAS.
Because I realized, that family ties are more important.
A friend can be counted upon to share the happy moments.
But what about tribulations?
When things happen that we think is the end of 'our internal world',
who can we go to? Family.
Because the bond we share transcends all generation gaps.
Sure.
You hate your parents' naggings.
They hate the way you blast your radio.
But what if,there comes a day you can't hear their naggings anymore?
Do you think they'll care that your radio is too loud,if one day you ran away from home?
In both instances,I think both parties would prefer the noise,
and most importantly, the presence of each other.
Am I not right?
